Truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. And part of one of the oldest mountain chains in the world. I actually live in the National Forest. During Spring you can't imagine the many shaded of green you will see. The Summer its beautiful when it thunderstorms and you truly see smoke on the mountains. The Fall is even more picturesque then any season. If you in the area at the right time you can't imagine the beauty.
Lush Mountain Forrest, beautiful river (the water is cold about 50 degrees year round ) but still beautiful. Rafting, hiking, not so touristy the NOC ( Nantahala Outdoor Center ) has exceptional customer service and Price's also there's a small post office one of the stops of the Appalachian trail. Great Place if you're into the outdoor thing !!!
Nantahala National forest covers a good part of the far Western section on NC. There are many beautiful trails, waterfalls and historic sites. It is also a very good place to do some whitewater rafting. Most of the waterfalls in that area are easily accessible . From the higher mountain tops some very good views can be had. There are also several nice lakes.
This place is absolutely amazing talk about beauty for days I would love to live here in the Smoky Mountains but it would be such a long drive to work. Amazing little spot for a weekend getaway highly recommended for everyone. All sorts of amazing little shops with treasures and antiques you can find just about anything.
Such cool places to visit here. Be sure to check the National Forest website for tips, places to visit and other handy bits of information. We enjoyed the waterfalls here, especially. There are also trail guides with difficulty levels listed. If you have younger, or older, people with you it's a good idea to see if you should attempt a hike on certain trails.
